A-Level Results Day: One Year On
Share:
A-Levels are honestly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. The volume of content is unbelievable and unlike anything you’ll ever have to deal with again. So, you can sigh a relief at that one on A-Level resutlts day.
It’s been one year since I collected my A-Level results, and, honestly, so much has changed in this past year. Whatever you go on to do after today, you have to be aware of the fact that everything in your life is about to change – even yourself. I don’t think a big enough deal is made of the change that comes to your life once you finally leave school. That comfort blanket is ripped away and suddenly it’s all down to you.
A-Level results one year on, though, are slightly less important than they were when I got them. Yes, they’re vital in terms of getting into university and then securing a job once you graduate. They’re even important for securing apprenticeships after school. However, if you’re one of those people who uses their grades to measure their worth as an individual, this next year of your life is going to be groundbreaking.
Results do not define who you are. You might think they do, but the year after A-Level results day will tell you otherwise. Suddenly, you begin to experience real life and the actual world, even if you are in university.
You realise it’s important to be happy first and foremost. You realise that putting yourself before anything else is actually okay. You’ll also come to realise that there is nobody like your friends from home. And you’ll realise that not everyone is who you thought they were. This next year of your life is going to be groundbreaking – and you’re simply going to have to ride the waves.
So, for today, good luck. I hope that you get the grade you deserve and go to the places you want to go. If you don’t, it’s not the end of the world. You’ll get on the right path soon enough – everyone I know is on theirs now.
