6 to follow on Insta Part 2

Due to the increasing influence of social media platforms, there is now a rich and varied range of content online. Instagram is one of the most popular social networks worldwide, with over 1 billion monthly active users sharing photos and videos with vast audiences.

Unlike other sites such as Facebook, Instagram uses an entirely visual platform, which has captured the public eye and it has rocketed in popularity. However, with such a wealth of content available to explore, it can be bewildering to identify what is most relevant for you.

Here are some accounts that I would recommend the following.

Political Stance

For too long, politics has been viewed as merely an ‘adult’ topic – however, it is becoming increasingly important for young people to get more involved. To enjoy a greater understanding of our dynamic, modern world, follow @theeconomist. 

Mental Health

For an alternative, less heavy read I would recommend @the_happy_broadcast, which focuses on improving mental health by providing interesting but anxiety-free news from around the world.

Scientifically Speaking

For any science nerds out there, this one’s for you. Ever wanted to explore the depths of space and time from your home screen? @insciencex provides exactly that, posting a broad array of knowledge (and of course a few memes) regarding science and technology. While I am no expert on the subject, this account is deeply insightful and provides many facts with which to impress your family and friends.

Health and Fitness

Health and fitness is another area of interest for many of us, especially when gyms are closed. If you’re looking to get in shape this lockdown, @whitneyysimmons posts some excellent training guides for girls wanting to workout, while also providing inspiration to boost motivation. For guys, @jasonkalambay is another online coach with plenty of workout guides and tips.

If gaming is your thing

Finally, to fellow gamers, @gamerstunts posts some awesome gaming videos and lots of video game-related memes. With plenty of nostalgia from the old but gold classics to showcases of the latest releases, this account will have you back online with your mates in no time.

Obviously, this is merely a small selection of accounts available in the vast catalogue on Instagram, but don’t be limited and make sure to do some exploring yourself.
